Greenland is a very quiet and lonely place. You can see only one person passing bye for every 10 miles that you walk in this place. The Greenland is surrounded by wind and snow, the quietness here is unimaginable.
From mid November to the month of January, they experience only three to 4 hours of daylight in the Greenland. They spend the rest of their time in complete darkness.
These conditions always torments the people that live here to commit suicide. 83 out of every 100,000 people in the Greenland commit suicide each year. Greenland has the highest suicide rate in the world, followed by Lithuania where 36.7 out of every 100,000 people commit suicide every year.
On the 21st day of June 2009, Greenland gained self rule, with provisions for self government of judicial affairs, policing and natural resources. Also, Greenlanders are recognised as separate people under the international law, but Denmark maintains control over their foreign affairs and defence matters.
